We went to Maple Grove (Ba Ngoai and Bapa's neighborhood is the jackpot for trick or treaters) for Eva's first trick or treating experience. She loved dressing up and of course she loved getting candy. I swear she has some sort of sixth sense for candy. It continues to amaze me how she knows something is candy without having ever set eyes on it and without being told it's candy. We only went to a few houses because it was early, cold and close to bedtime (and because we're lame). Next year we'll let her stay out later.
We went to the Minnesota Children's Museum with our friends the Colemans Halloween day. Eva dressed up as a bumblebee and the cute little ladybug below is Amelia. It was our first outing to the museum and we were impressed! The girls had so much fun. We went to "Spooky World", which seemed to scare me more than it did Eva. The best part of the museum is the little miniature town they have with a post office, grocery store, Korean restaurant and more. Eva and Amelia busily picked out produce and served up some delicious fake food. I think they have a future in it: E&A's Cafe.
Eva's first camping trip was a huge success. It didn't look like it would go so well when we arrived to cold and rainy conditions at Wild River State Park. Fortunately, our friends are experienced campers and we were able to get everything set up without a problem despite the rain and dark. The next day turned out to be a beautiful Fall day. We went on a very long hike and Eva got to play on a sandbar on the St. Croix. She did great sleeping in a tent and didn't seem to have a problem with the cool temperatures at night. We can't wait to take her camping again.
